BACK FROM NEW YORK FASHION WEEK
I Just got back from New York. Still having jet lag issues is maybe the reason I haven’t kept up with my blog. So I’m back, I’m refreshed and ready to start blogging!
Monique and I have some great stories and pictures to share on our blog Diaryofafashionstylist. We’ve been working extra hard on putting it all together, it’s looking good and over the next week or two hopefully we’ll be going live.
Monday is an exciting day for us both. We’re shooting the new bag collection “Moon M” for Bacsac that was designed by Monique. I’ll be doing the styling. of course I’ll have my own camera and take some shots to share with you.
Now about New York, it was fantastic! but then again it always is. It doesn’t seem to really matter what time of year your there, there’s always new places to see and people to meet. Although this time was for work. And ooh how we worked.
Our days began at 6 am behind our computers, granted we were still in bed, none the less it was work! After a light breakfast we head out for some searching and shopping and in between caught some fashion shows, and of course met up with friends and did have some fun
My first day of shopping didn’t feel like too much of a success. Of course we found some great boutiques and new places but the prices were unbelievable! It seemed as though everything was twice as expensive than in Europe. The difference was so huge, it was almost as if the shops just made up the prices themselves, and even more astounding in this economical crisis the shops were full of people buying and spending! My impression is that New York is great for its restaurants, bars, cafes, clubs and hotels, Conclusion: Shop in Europe!
No Regrets….
So after hearing that, you won’t be too surprised to know that I didn’t go crazy with my credit cards……..that on the side lets talk about the Alexander McQueen shoes I had seen and told you that I wanted to think about….. I just couldn’t leave them behind. It was love at first sight, and I have an excuse…….I’m getting married
so for me no regrets!
And here it is the forbidden picture that I snapped while the shop assistant wasn’t looking.
(P.s now there sitting perfectly in my closet, where they should be and where they as I may add look better than in the shop)
Being in a different country gives me the feeling that I have an excuse to buy something that I would not normally buy at home, like these crazy sunglasses by Oakley.
I would love to share all the stories and pictures but I need to save some for Diary of a Fashion Stylist. In our blog Mo and I will share more of the shows, shoes and shops!!!
Every morning we started our days off with an early lunch at French bistro Pastis. Located on the corner of (th and Wagner in the Meat packing District. A perfect hangout for voguenistas and a super place to find inspiration.
Pastis opened in 1999 and since has been a huge success thanks to its loyal following of real NewYorkers who value its relaxed atmosphere and great food, not to mention its neatly wrapped take-away. That may be the reason it has survived after all these years.

Catch is another popular restaurant in the Meat Packing District at the moment. I use that term at the moment because like in every big city, restaurants have a short life span. There are restaurants opening and closing the doors every day in New York, and guaranteed that the next time I’m here there will be new places to visit with original ideas and spaces. None the less I enjoyed Catch. I had fun there. I love looking and watching well dressed people, which Catch evidently, is known for trendy New yorkers and models so I came to the right place. Which also reflects my line of work.

Here we are on our way to one of the fashion shows. Notice that our shoes are cut out of the picture? We both had on our Isabel Marant Bekket Sneakers. We new that in Holland there was a huge hype going on for the shoes but that couldn’t prepare us for New York…….it was unbelievable, we had people actually pointing at us and whispering about our shoes. fashion bloggers asked to make pictures of us…….we couldn’t refuse

It was Short but Sweet
Here I am with my dear friend. I always new that his dreams were bigger than Holland. Now he lives here in N.Y and works with many international celebrities. Unfortunately I saw him shortly, he was busy working the shows.
