Work of Art……

I can’t help it, I love beautiful shoes. The perfect shoe is like a work of art, a masterpiece, to be admired and shared. This season its Burberry Prorsum that has made the divine collection.
Last week while making our first look of the week for Diary of a fashion stylist, we had chosen a cute pair of black & yellow printed tribal shorts with a leather trim from Barbara Bui. They found their way back in my wardrobe, not the first time and certainly not the last, this is one of the downfalls of being a fashion stylist. It’s hard to leave all the beautiful clothes and accessories behind. As a stylist, your constantly looking for all the latest looks and trying on the newest collections, to get a better knowledge of the fit and model ;) Its very hard not to want them for yourself……….ehhm….. for myself……….and not to forget that looking and representing yourself in a fashionable way is a part of the job. Now I’m loosing track of my subject, back to the fabulous shoes.

Yesterday I was busy making moodboards  and I came across these beauties on Net-a-Porter. I had seen them before but had never a good combination to use them until now, you can’t argue they are perfect with this look!!!

Nails, Nails glorious nails!!

I love this look, red with silver tips.

Lately I have been consuming my time on the internet searching for inspiration and ideas for my wedding. Being a stylist, I am always focused on the details, as small as they may be. My newest discovery is nail polish. Not just one color but multiple. I’m loving the colored tips. Since you’ll only find various colors off red in my make up case, I had to run out and buy some new exciting colors and start experimenting.

Its so much more difficult than it looks. I tried a few times before I realized I needed a nail tip template to make a perfect line. I ran back out to look for the stickers but unfortunately was unsuccessful. But no worries you can use the same stickers in a french manicure kit or even use plain old tape. This cool and creative look was seen on the Paris, Milan and New York runways, so you will undoubtedly see this look more mainstream this year.

My Obsession……

Vintage ring from Erstwhile Jewelry (www.shop.erstwhilejewelry.com)

My obsession at the moment are crosses and rings. Big chunky cocktail rings. I can’t get enough, Lately wherever I am I am constantly searching for new ones. I have been wanting desperately to find one with an animal motif.  Like a huge tigers head or a snake wrapped around my finger. Finally after searching everywhere, while shooting the campaign for Moon M for Bagsac on location at Raak in the Leidsestraaat I spotted exactly what I was looking for. French jewelry design Culoyon makes these fabulous and fun cocktail rings. I immediately used them for the shoot and of course they managed their way into my own private collection ;)

In 3 weeks you will be able to order these rings online, at last Raak is going online with a webshop!!

Launched Today…..

After a couple of long days, we have made it. At last The Blog www.DiaryofaFashionStylist.com is online.

Diary of a fashion stylist is not your average fashion blog. It is a collaboration of 2 separate fashion stylists with their own unique style, sharing their fashion adventures giving useful advice and tips they pick up along the way.

“We will share with you details of our trips together, give you tips on where to eat, sleep and of course shop. We will keep you informed of all the latest trends and give you a peek into our own personal “fashion Diary”.

With Diary of a Fashion Stylist we have brought together two different perspectives from our personalities using both our personal and professional experiences. We may share the same title, but we begin with our own ideas and experience, each adding our own signature that reflects our professional and personal style and lifestyle.

Premiere Dutch Film Plan C.

Tonight I am attending the premiere of the Dutch film Plan C in Tuschinski. I have mobilised the whole team, from makeup artist to hair stylist, because I could really use a makeover!!! The last few days I have been so busy with the other blog (DiaryofaFashionStylist.com) that I have got bags under my eyes from the many hours working on the laptop. Tomorrow will be the day the Blog finally goes online.

My dear friend and makeup artist Judith Anna Pronk is coming to do my makeup this evening. This is an opportunity to also practice for my big day, since she will be doing my bridal makeup. And Laura, who has featured a number of times earlier in my blog, will do my hair. I am really happy they can help since my skills are only good for styling my own outfit. What a pity if you are wearing a beautiful dress, but the hair and makeup does not look good!!!

Its on occasions like this when it is really handy that my work brings me together with hairstylists and makeup artists. You can also book them for that special occasion via the following website.

Scouting For Gems……..

Happy with my new bracelets

I’m on my way to my good friend Michelle who has her own jewelry line called Scout & Jem. When she has made a new collection I can come and choose some pieces to use in shoots and wear myself. (One of the perks of the trade ;) . I love her style so I’m happy to wear it, and for her its great publicity. She has being designing and making jewelry for many years for friends and private clients it was only in 2010 that she began Scout & Jem.  Every piece is handmade by her and she only uses natural materials such as semi precious stones, gold, silver, bone and wood.  Her style is Bohemian hippie but with a classic and edgy touch. Something for everyone. The best boutiques in Amsterdam sell her jewelry exclusively, boutique Buise, Centre Neuf as well as the eclectic concept shops &Klevering throughout Amsterdam.  She plans on taking her line international, L.A would be her first choice as her style fits in really well there. In three weeks we’re off to Paris for a weekend together and we’ll be keeping our eyes open for new boutiques that we can offer her line too.

Shoot Moon M. for Bagsac

Yesterday I was working all day on the photo shoot for Moon. M by Bagsac, the new bag line by Stylist and friend, Monique Mattijssen. Together she teamed up with one of the intern designers for the label to develop a new series of bags with her own touch. Monique was her own model for the shoot so she asked me to do the styling. It was a fun and easy job. The rest of the team were all really nice to work with which made the day go by easily. While I was styling I snapped some photographs behind the scenes, although I took quite a few, I still need to choose the best ones to share with you so I’ll post them next week. Here’s one that I can share now of Monique, myself and the rest of the Moon. M team!

Just Back from NYC

I Just got back from New York. Still having jet lag issues is maybe the reason I haven’t kept up with my blog.  So I’m back, I’m refreshed and ready to start blogging! Monique and I have some great stories and pictures to share on our blog Diaryofafashionstylist. We’ve been working extra hard on putting it all together, it’s looking good and over the next week or two hopefully we’ll be going live.
Monday is an exciting day for us both. We’re shooting the new bag collection “Moon M” for Bacsac that was designed by Monique. I’ll be doing the styling. of course I’ll have my own camera and take some shots to share with you.

Now about New York, it was fantastic! but then again it always is. It doesn’t seem to really matter what time of year your there, there’s always new places to see and people to meet. Although this time was for work. And ooh how we worked.

Daily Report #Soho House

Monique and I are staying at the Standard hotel located in the meat packing district. This is my favorite neighborhood in NY. There is so much culture and creativity here especially now during NYFW. This is for us the perfect place to watch people and be inspired, we’ll be sharing it all on our blog “Diary of a Fashion stylist”.

After a full day of walking, looking and shopping we met up with a good friend of mine, a true New Yorker, who acts as my tour guide whenever I’m here. He always takes me to new and amazing places when I’m visiting, places that I would otherwise never would have known about.  This time it was the Soho House.

Soho House is a place that has an amazing vibe an ongoing buzz which makes it a popular hangout for hip New Yorkers. Its trendy but discrete and its frequented by lots of celebrities. Unfortunately for that reason making it even more admirable is that its a private club and you need to be a member to get in.

After 5 famous NY Belini’s we crawled back to our hotel. We are still dealing with jet lag and fell asleep before our heads hit the pillow. At 4 am we both were wide awake and behind our computers in bed. No fabulous fashion party for us. But there’s always tomorrow! Tonight is grammy night.   Love watching the red carpet. We’ll be watching at my friends house and afterwards heading out to have a nice dinner at Capriani. Curioous how long we’ll make it tonight……you’ll hear about it tomorrow!

Daily Report NYC #Retail Therapy

Bottega Veneta Bag/Bottega Veneta Bracelets/ Dress Pleasure Doing Business

After some major retail therapy yesterday I scored the perfect dress to wear to the Dutch film premiere Pan C. No more searching. With that out of the way I can now shop around stress free. I found some amazing Alexander McQueen heels from the new Sarah Burton collection. It was the anniversary of his death today (feb 11) two years ago, so I felt the need to honor him and treat myself, but……..the price tag…….I’ll sleep on it. I wasn’t allowed to take any pictures in the shop so I can’t even share with you how amazing they are but i’ll keep searching on line, until then you’ll have to trust me when I say “to die for”
